The Cariboo and Chilcotin regions border a section of BC's central coastline and offer the only highway access to it. The area is therefore often referred to as "Cariboo Chilcotin Coast" It is situated in central British Columbia, nestled between the Cariboo Mountain Range on the east and the Pacific Ocean on the west, approximately 400 km north of Vancouver. The region covers around 12,600,000 hectares (over 31 million acres). Visitors will enjoy all amenities and service facilities, excellent accommodations, from luxury resorts to quaint lakeside cabins, and fine dining and shopping.

Chilcotin mountains Larger than some European countries, this stunningly beautiful wilderness boasts 8,000 lakes and 17,000 km of rivers and streams; a land of dramatic scenery, rugged landscapes, thick forests, fantastic rock formations, mountain peaks covered with vast ice fields and alpine meadows. The Cariboo-Chilcotin boasts the vast and magnificent Wells Grey and Tweedsmuir Parks as well as numerous others. But this magnificent, wide-open frontier also has a colourful history.

The discovery of gold in the Cariboo in 1862 brought many adventurers from around the world. They travelled the Cariboo Waggon Road between Lillooet and Barkerville and along the way towns sprang up. The region, born in the gold rush, was soon bustling with miners and cowboys all looking for a bit of excitement. And the excitement is still here for you to experience!

Outdoor pursuits such as hunting and fishing remain amongst the best in Canada. Our area boasts a bountiful population of many North American big game animals; This truly is the heart of hunting country. In fact several species which have been re-introduced into areas of the United States, such as bighorn sheep, have come from the thriving populations in this beautiful region. The Cariboo Chilcotin also offers world class trout and salmon fishing and numerous guides and resorts to cater to the fishermen and hunters, whether it be horse-back, quad, 4x4, fly-in or other tours.
